Glo Donates 100kva Electricity Gen to NYSC Camp

Globacom has, once again, restated its commitment to corporate social responsibility in the country.

The telecommunications company also expressed its readiness to take on civic and social projects that would have a direct and significant positive impact on the lives of youths in various communities across the country.

Globacom Business Director, Lagos State division, Mr. Kunle Akanmu, made this remark on Tuesday in Lagos, when Globacom donated a 100KVA electricity power generator to the Lagos State Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in order to enhance the comfort of corps members.

“We are aware of the need by youths to have regular access to electricity, so that they can have unrestrained access to data and voice call services. They need to call their loved ones when they are on the mandatory oneyear National Youth Service and also be on the social media regularly. It is this knowledge that has moved us to donate this power generating set, so that they can stay abreast of happenings around the globe without fear of power interruptions,” Akanmu said.

He stated further that the donation was one of the ways Globacom gives back to the society, adding that the company would lend support to youth empowerment and well-being, as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Co-ordinator of NYSC, Mr. Cyril Akhanemhe, thanked Globacom for extending a hand of fellowship to the corps members, adding that the good gesture would open a new vista of relations with the state chapter, which accommodates about 5,000 corps members on an annual basis.
