GROUP CALL FOR PUBLIC DISPLAY OF NASS APPROPRIATION

The National Assembly is been called upon to make its budget breakdown public to enable Nigeria monitor the monies allocated to the Nigerian parliament. The the national coordinator of open NASS advocacy group Dan Ngel says for a parliament that appropriates the nations spending, it should be transparent enough before Nigerians.
The National Assembly is the body that appropriates the national purse and how monies in government’s coffers should be spent.
But like a man who hides his own money, the national assembly does not seem to like making its own public.
The secrecy surrounding the budget of the national assembly is one that is seriously been condemned, some believe that the executive arm of government is more transparent than those who are elected to represent Nigerians at the parliamentary level.
