53 lives lost to fire disasters in kebbi – fire service

No fewer than 53 human lives and properties worth billions were lost to series of fire infernos in kebbi.

This is according to independent investigation carried out by kebbi Dailytimes correspondent that was confirmed by the fire service department image maker basiru bello ,revealed that such wanton lost of lives to fire could have been averted if the state government had provided sufficient fire fighting vehicles and equipment.

According to him several memos were written to the government urging and appealing to the authorities concerned to procure those needed fire fighting vehicles to reduce death risk to fire related issues.

He further said that, the major worry is that members of the public continue to heap blame on them as many are not aware of the efforts being made to contain fire out breaks through public campaigns and awareness, he added that many times their drivers travel long distance to quench fire,those areas officially should have fire service outpost with functional vehicles but so far none has been provided by the state government.

He said that if nothing is done they will meet public anger by perhaps being attacked or lynched due to what members of the society described as poor services,he passionately appeal to kebbi government to as a matter of urgency salvage the already very bad situation.
