3 students of FUOYE excel in mathematics competition

Three students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), have won a bronze medal each in the just the concluded National Mathematics Competition for University Students (NAMCUS).
The Acting Head of the Department of Mathematics in the institution, Dr Olusola Abolarin, announced this while speaking with newsmen in Oye-Ekiti on Tuesday.
Abolarin gave the names of the students as Ayo Ashaolu, Isaiah Onifade and Oladipo Fajire.
He also said the university came 14th out of 100 universities that participated in the national competition.
According to Abolarin, the competition serves as an external assessment model for the students.
He said the department had also used the competition to identify areas the students needed to improve their skill in the subject.
“Our performance at 2017 NAMCUS edition has proved FUOYE’s worth at the national level.
“This feat we have just achieved will enhance our chances of positive accreditation by the National University Commission,’’ Abolarin said.
He also said the department was already putting in place necessary training programmes for students to ensure the university performs better in the coming edition of NAMCUS.
Abolarin commended the Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, for supporting the department to achieve the feat.
