2019 polls: Taraba NLC inaugurates 7-man political committee

In its efforts towards ensuring smooth conduct of the 2019 polls across the 16 Local Government Areas of Taraba State, the State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has set up and inaugurated a 7-man Political Committee.

The ceremony held Tuesday at the NLC Secretariat, Jalingo, the State Labour Leader, Comrade Peter Gambo said Taraba workers are desirous of free, fair and credible polls, hence the need to constitute a Committee to carry out the exercise.

Comrade Gambo said the terms of reference before the Committee were: to organize meetings with political party contestants, to canvass for workers’ interests and to encourage peaceful, free and fair electoral processes.

“The Committee was selected to organize meetings with political parties participating in the electoral process.

“They are to canvass for workers’ interests in the various manifestoes of candidates contesting for elections.

“They are to ensure free, fair and credible elections”, he said.

Daily Times gathers that the Committee inaugurated include: Comrade Danjuma Papa Kunini as Chairman, Aliyu Jauro Mafindi, Alama Laban, Hosea Danjuma, Saidu Mohammed, Abdul Solomon as members while Comrade Joel Wayas is the Secretary.

Speaking on behalf of others, the Committee Chairman, Comrade Danjuma Papa Kunini appreciated the NLC leadership for the assignment and assured justifying the confidence reposed on them.
