2019: Nigerians’ll vote out APC over dwindling economy, says WAIFEM DG

The Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to brace up in his effort at tackling the dwindling economy of the country, just as it expressed fear that government’s failure to meet the expectations of Nigerians, as well as provide solutions to hues and cry of the common man may lead to the rejection of the party in 2019 election.

Speaking at the patty’s national conference, which was held in Benin City, the Edo State capital, recently, with the theme: “State of the Nigerian nation”, the Director General, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), Prof. Akpan Ekpo, who decried poor state of the nation`s economy said that since independence, Nigeria had maintained a neo-colonial status.

SPN National Co-ordinator, Jonathan Ihonde, said, “as you all know, our party is the party of all working people of Nigeria, designed and destined to struggle, to achieve political and economic power for onward march to an egalitarian society.”

Ihonde noted that the component parts of SPN were the different arms of labour movement, adding that it had become imperative “to set up a revolutionary party structure that will carry us through a revolutionary era for a scientific socialist society. A society in which all will be given equal opportunity to develop in accordance to each person’s natural endowment. The party will go into alliances with organisations that have similar socialist ideology or tendency.” Ihonde said.

Ekpo who described the country’s economy as a traumatized economy said Nigeria’s macro-economies and social indices compared with similar countries in 1960 showed that Nigeria economywas not doing well, in spite of legal framework by successive government till date.
