Anambra CAN chair warns against plans to Islamise Nigeria

The Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Anambra State branch, Special Senior Apostle Tim Uchenna Okpala, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to shelve any plan of Islamising Nigeria, as it would spell doom to the continuous existence of the country.

He gave the advice while answering questions from this reporter over the killing of a Christian woman in a Kano market recently.

He stated that from the body language of the president, Buhari was still contemplating Sharia law in most states of the country, as it was being witnessed in Osun State and the recent killings in Nimbo community, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, and other violent invasion of community farmlands, which had witnessed the provocative killings of innocent lives by Fulani herdsmen.

He warned that the Federal Government under Buhari had failed to show leadership in the event of all these killings.

While urging the Federal Government to take pro-active measures to curtail incessant killings of Christians across the country, Okpala, however, called on Nigerian Christians to rise up to the occasion by praying fervently to avert being taken unawares by the Jihadists, who parade themselves as Fulani herdsmen to rape and kill innocent people in Igbo land and other parts of the country.

Okpala, who frowned at the lack-luster attitude of some Christians in spiritual matters, also asked Christians to wake up from their comfort zones and face the challenges confronting their faith by organising warfare prayers and fasting against bad governance, adding that the issue of grazing land for cattle must be out rightly rejected by the National Assembly, because of the security implications it had on the unity of the country.
