2019 Guber: NSCDC deploys senior officers, debunks allegation of short payment

The Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has ordered the deployment of the Deputy Commandant Generals, Assistant Commandant Generals and Commandants at the Headquarters to different Zones and States for effective monitoring of the gubernatorial election.

According to a statement by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Okeh, the DG made the disclosure yesterday in Abuja while addressing the management team.

The Commandant General pointed out that, the deployment is very imperative for effective coordination of the personnel before, during and after the elections in the six geopolitical zones.

Furthermore, Gana seized the opportunity to appreciate the efforts of the Corps personnel during the Presidential and National Assembly elections and urged them to keep the flag flying by remain good ambassadors of the Corps anywhere they are posted to.

While reiterating his administration’s commitment to the welfare of personnel, he noted that he ensured prompt payment of the sum of N15,000 made available by government to all personnel across board for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, with plans underway for a follow up arrangement of another N15,000 to all personnel for the Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly Elections slated for Saturday, March 9.

He cautioned personnel to classify the news making rounds about the short payment of allowance as an attempt by some individuals with sinister motives to discredit the good works of the organisation.

According to reports obtain from the office of the Corps Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. David Atabo, the CG explained further that some of those affected by the short payment were on ‘pay-day loan’ loan with Access Bank and other commercial banks which could not be deducted over a long period of time due to the introduction of IPPIS for payment of staff salary adding that it became apparent that personnel with such loan facilities were affected as the Banks deducted their monies at source.

The CG, therefore, encouraged anyone with genuine complaints to report through their respective state commands with evidence to the appropriate committee setup to address such issues after they must have contacted their banks for clarification and validation of their claims.

He encouraged personnel to remain focused, disciplined, law abiding and shun every act of sabotage that is capable of denting the image of the Corps.

He assured Nigerians of a hitch-free credible, and fair election by tasking them to cooperate with all security officials, and to come out en-mass to vote for candidate of their choice without any fear of intimidation or harassment as the Corps has deployed her personnel effectively to protect them and create an enabling environment to exercise their civic duties.
