2018: Ekiti deserves competent Governor, not a mediocre, says Falegan
A chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP, in Ekiti State Hon. Opeyemi Falegan called on all politicians in the state to work hard on all the Aspirants and queue behind the most competent among them in the interest of the state this time around.
Hon. Falegan who made the assertion in a release made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti explained that what the State deserves now to fast track a meaningful and real development is nothing but the best and visionary leader, and not an entertainer or a mediocre.
Falegan who noted that the state cannot afford to loose another opportunity of getting it right again in terms of articulate and visionary personality to lead, and not a personality that will bring the name of the state into disrepute and shame.
While calling of hat will all and sundry to join hands together to actualize this, Falegan said the development of Ekiti must be a collective responsibility of all, saying the easiest way to the promised land is the emergence of a well prepared leader who will emerge through a popular vote of majority of the people.
The United Kingdom based Politician who expressed concern over the current poverty level in the state, said, there is no reason whatsoever why Ekiti must be poor despite its agrarian nature, pointing out that the major challenge being faced by the people is lack of necessary assistance from government at all levels in order to encourage them.
“With visionary and decent leader, Ekiti State can be self-reliant economically through Agriculture and prudent management of the resources. But it is so unfortunate that, the people of the state are living in abject poverty even in the midst of abundance.
“Though, there have been many Aspirants parading themselves in and outside the state now but the question is, who among them really know what Ekiti people want and what is good for the state to make it compete with other states in the country in terms of wealth creation and real development?
“The development calls for a serious concern by all stakeholders in and outside the state. Because the great potential in Ekiti both natural and human resources are yet to be tapped and until we discover and ready to tap same, the state may find it difficult to grow as expected.
“It is therefore, the responsibility of a good leader to encourage the followers on how to face the challenges and see same as an opportunity to develop but in a situation whereby a leader was not forthcoming on his responsibilities to the people, the result is likely to be negative and counter productive.
“People should also know that, to ensure a good representation at all levels of governance especially at national, state Assemblies, executive members and local council Areas, there must be a forthright and dependable governor to lead this time around. “he stated
Hon. Falegan however urged well meaning individuals must come to the aid of less privileged persons in our society in a bid to eradicate poverty from the land in this regard since government cannot do it alone.
He also stressed the need to endure that Agriculture is accorded a high priority by whoever that want to rule the state next, adding that people must see the readiness of such individual on it before electing him. Because an hungry man,as they say, is an angry man.
“It is high time,we encouraged people through soft loans and other incentives to promote Agriculture in order to banish poverty from the state and enhance its socio-economic”
