2 Confirmed Dead In Mob Attack In Ekpan As Youths Rise Against Same-sex Practice

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the murder of two persons following an attack by some irate youths in Ekpan Community of Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity claimed that 5 young boys suspected to be either gay or Bisexuals were attacked and ruthlessly injured by the visibly angry youths who claimed that the activities of the prohibited lesbians, gays and bisexuals within the Ekpan community was becoming alarming and that they were tired of condoning same in the community.
A source in the community who preferred anonymity, gave the names of some of the injured victims as Maxwel Ohwonohwo and Obi Richard while Efe Eseghene and Dafe Imonina were said to be the names of the 2 deceased victims.
He linked the violent attacks and consequent killings in Ekpan and its environs to the mass protest against the practice of same sex marriage, homosexual, Gay, Bisexual and other related vices.
The deadly attacks and killings was said to have started in the early hours of Saturday, November 18th 2023 at the Jakpa road axis of Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
Efe Eseghene and Dafe Imonina (the 2 deceased victims) were alleged to be very notorious gay individuals in Uvwie as they were amongst those who escaped from police custody in August during the widely publicized arrest of the 67 gay suspects at Teebolus Hotel, Refinery Road, Ekpan.
Meanwhile, the State Command spokesman of the Nigerian Police, SP Moses Joel Yamu while addressing journalists, confirmed 2 deaths but could not verify if the killings were as a result of gay or other related practice.
He said: “I don’t know if these were anti-gay related killings, but I can confirm that there 2 corpses.”
Speaking further on the development, the State Police Command spokesman, Yamu, said that the Command was doing everything possible to stem the tide of extra-judicial killings in the state.
He assured that investigation into the attacks and killings were ongoing and that the situation had been brought under control.
