After 17 years, Man seeks divorce over lovelessness

After 17 years of marriage, a man, Mr Emmanuel Ilesanmi, on Friday pleaded with an Ado Ekiti Customary Court to dissolve the union, citing lovelessness.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the petitioner is also seek the dissolution of the marriage on the grounds that the wife left the home without his consent, being adamant to ‎correction and lack of love.

Ilesanmi , 47, a dry cleaner and a resident of Zone 4, Olorunsogo in Adebayo area of the Ekiti capital, told the court that the respondent, Bosede, and her two children left the house for several days without informing him or bothering about his welfare.

“My wife does prepare food for me or wash my clothes.

“I want the court to dissolve the marriage because I don’t love her anymore,” said the father of two, urging the court to award the custody of the children to him for proper care.

A witness for the petitioner, Mr Samuel Ilesanmi, 45, a civil servant, told the court that he supported ‎the move to dissolve the union.

He said the family members had met to take steps on how to assist the petitioner to take good care of the two children.

In her response, Bosede, 43, a ‎civil servant, denied all the allegations levelled against her by the petitioner.

She claimed that it was the petitioner that often abandon her and the children for months.

“For more than three years, the man ‎left the house without considering the welfare and the education of the children.

“During the period, he was living in one prophetess’ house. He stopped eating my food since 2012, claiming that I will poison him,” she told the court.

She, however, agreed to the dissolution of the marriage.

A witness of the respondent, Mr Kayode ‎Ilesanmi, 40, a hotel manager, who is also the younger brother of the petitioner, told the court that all the allegations levelled against the respondent by his elder brother were untrue.

Kayode told the court that their problem started when they were attending a CAC church under the leadership of one prophetess Dada.

He alleged that it was the same prophetess that ‎prophesied that the respondent was a witch and that the petitioner should send her away.

The President of court, Mr Joseph Ogunsemi, adjourned the case until Oct. 3 for further hearing. (NAN)
