1,000 Imo youths to receive training on modern ICT courses

A newly launched Information Communication Technology (ICT) hub, Learn Factory Nigeria in Imo state has said it would train 1, 000 children between the age bracket of eight to 13 on artificial intelligence and digital animation.
Chief Executive Officer of the ICT outfit, Chibueze Ukaegbu, who dropped the hint to newsmen in Owerri during the official launch of the hub at the weekend, added that they also target to train 50, 000 youths of the state on software development over the next four years.

According to him, it’s imperative to expose young people to the global technology trends to enable them compete favourably with their counterparts in developed countries in the near future.
The ICT expert and entrepreneur, also emphasized on the importance for the government to invest more and support efforts targeted on education and technology development.
He stated that for any nation to succeed in this modern age, it must think and act towards ensuring that its young people are technologically knowledgeable, educationally sound, skilful and industrious.
“Our primary goal is human capacity development. And for that we have several programmes, but specifically in Owerri, we have two main targets. One to train 50, 000 young people over the next four years in advanced software development and 1, 000 children in artificial intelligence and digital animation.

“I foresee that in the next five to 10 years, if given access to the right trainings, which is what we are about, these young people can really amplifier their skills for better gains and future.”
Also speaking, one of the facilitators and Guest Speaker at the event, Nze Meekam Mgbenwulu commended the Learn Factory for their initiative to open in the state and expressed optimism that the hub would yield the desired results for the general good of the state and the citizens.
Mgbenwulu, a former commissioner for technology development in the state opined that Imo state has the potentials to become a technology driven state that can translate into easy and better life for its citizens.
