Woods concedes naming right to Nike

It’s often said that success comes with a price. For Tiger Woods, that price appears to be his name.

A developer working with the golfer on a new $8 million restaurant says he can’t use “Tiger Woods” in any part of the name of the establishment because Nike owns its rights.

Nicholas A. Mastroianni II says the deal with Nike prohibits Woods himself from using his first and last name without its consent. Because of that, the Jupiter, Fla. restaurant will be named, Woods Jupiter: Sports and Dining Club.

A Nike endorser since turning pro in 1996, Woods signed his fourth endorsement deal with the company back in 2013. His contracts with the company have been reported to be worth in the neighborhood of $20 million per year.
