Woman, 42, arraigned for allegedly stabbing woman, released on N0.1m bail

A 42-year-old, Rashidat Olafare, who allegedly beat and stabbed another woman during a fight, is facing trial at an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun.
She was, however, released on bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum after she pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, who gave the ruling, said the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means and also reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
One of the sureties must be a civil servant of not less than Grade Level 06, he said.
The accused, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, intent to commit felony and assault occasioning harm.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Osanyintuyi, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 13 at Gbelenkan Street, Ile-Ife, with others still at large.
According to him, the accused assaulted a woman, Fasilat Omisore, gave her several blows and stabbed her on the left hand.
The offences contravened Sections 355, 356 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Counsel to the accused, Mr. Adewale Adegbami, urged the court to grant her bail on liberal terms, promising she will not jump bail.
Further hearing in the case was adjourned until August 16. (NAN)
