The Presidency, on Friday, released damning information against the Catholic Priest and spiritual director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, saying he is criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari because he failed to get contracts from him.

The presidency stated this in response to Fr. Mbaka, who during worship on Wednesday evening in Enugu, called for the impeachment of the President over the rising insecurity in the country.

He stated that it was sad how Buhari could maintain grave silence in the midst of the killings and deaths in the country, insisting that he may have lost touch with realities.

He told his congregation that no civilized leader would remain in power with the spate of violence and ugly deaths that have bedeviled the nation.

“How can people be dying, the chief security officer of the country will be sitting down without making any comment.

“Gunmen attacking people everywhere. Buhari should have resigned honourably following his failure as a leader.

Let me tell you if it is in a civilized country, by now, President Buhari will resign with what is happening. So it is amazing that he has chosen to sit tight while people are dying anyhow.”

Mbaka called on the National Assembly to swing into action and remove the president, should he fail to resign, saying that Nigerians are faced with great difficulty created by poverty and insecurity.

“Nigerians are crying because there’s no security in the country. The National Assembly should impeach the president if he doesn’t want to resign,” Mbaka said.

Mbaka warned the lawmakers that should they fail to impeach the president and begin to attack him; “…something worse than what they can never imagine will happen to the members.”

But the presidency in a press release by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu, said the clergyman is everything apart from what he claims to be.

The Presidency said: “An outsider distilling the avalanche of verbiage will be surprised that after supporting the President two times to win the Presidency, Father Mbaka has made a complete U-Turn, preposterously asking President Buhari to resign or be impeached.

“Here is the point of departure: Father Mbaka asked for a meeting and to the shock of Presidential Aides, he came accompanied by three contractors.

“The President graciously allowed them in, and to everyone’s surprise, Father Mbaka asked for contracts as compensation for his support.

“Anyone familiar with President Buhari knows that he doesn’t break the laid down rules in dealing with contracts or any other government business for that matter.

He requested the appropriate authorities to deal with the matter in accordance with laid down rules.

“Inside the Villa, discretion prevailed, that if those pictures and requests were made public, the followers will turn against the religious leader. None of it was released. Now, this is what is eating Father Mbaka.”

Meanwhile, former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Friday, described the Presidency and Rev. Fr. Mbaka as “blackmailers”.

Fayose also said both the Presidency and the preacher don’t deserve the attention of Nigerians.

“The Presidency and Father Mbaka are nothing but blackmailers and scammers. They don’t deserve the attention of Nigerians,” he tweeted.
