We’ve no plans to impeach Bindow, says Adamawa speaker

Tom Garba, Yola
Speaker of the Adamawa state House of Assembly, Kabiru Mijinyawa on Thursday dismissed media reports that the state legislature plans to impeach Governor Jubrilla Bindow from office.
Condemning in strong terms a story published by Daily Independent on its April 3 edition, described as unfounded and baseless the insinuation that the assembly is considering impeaching the governor when the administration has barely two left to the end of its tenure.
While condemning the lack of professionalism by the author of the story, Minjinyawa said the House has and is not in any way pondering to impeach the governor.
”This story is the figment of the imagination of the writer and the story does not have substance; we never in any way sat down and resolved to serve Gov. Bindow an impeachment notice.
“Look, that’s not how the House operates. Whoever that is thinking such among us is just dreaming and I’m sure they don’t have the majority to do that.
The bottom line is that Adamawa state House of Assembly has never in any way and for whatever reason, made any effort to remove me or serve the governor an impeachment notice,” the speaker added.
Debunking the report which alluded to a fracas in the assembly, Mijinyawa revealed that the House on Tuesday reconvened and deliberated on the induction training of newly elected lawmakers and thereafter, adjourned plenary.
