WC Qualifier: Portugal comes from behind to defeat Luxembourg

Portugal comes from behind to secure the second win of their World Cup qualifying campaign, defeating Luxembourg 3-1 at the Stade Josy Barthel.

Gerson Rodrigues put the home side ahead with a diving header, notching his second goal in as many games. Diogo Jota equalized before the break with a close-range header.

The Selecao took control in the second half as Cristiano Ronaldo found the net, while Joao Palhinha scored his first international goal to deliver the victory.

Luxembourg doesn’t return to action until September when World Cup qualifying resumes. Portugal plays Spain in a friendly game in their next outing in preparation for the European Championships in June.
