Villagers place N3m bounty on 31 years old man in Edo
Elders and traditional priests of Evbodobian community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State have placed a bounty of N3 million on the head of a 31-year-old Osarodion Osayande over his willful disappearance to avoid the performance of some rites of passage for his late father.
The bounty option the elders said became compelling as the burial rites of Pa Paul Osayande Uwuilekhue, who until his demise was the Enogie (Duke) of the village has been stalled following his son’s refusal to perform certain compelling sacrifices to kick start the process which must be carried out within a specified period of time, thus resulting in a state of confusion.
Trouble, sources claim started after the elders drew the attention of Osarodion Osayande to the compelling role he had to play in his late father’s traditional funeral processes which he vehemently rejected on the ground that they run contrary to his Christian faith and belief
Osarodion is expected to present some fetish items unaccompanied to the village strine at mid night, to signal the commencement of the funeral rites.
“If he doesn’t present those items, the funeral can’t commence. The community is in a state of confusion now. Nobody thought Osarodion was serious when he first declined to perform this mandatory role until he disappeared”, said a concerned community leader.
The elders therefore urged anyone with useful information as to the whereabouts of Osarodion Osayande to inform the village’s edion (elders) for a handsome reward.
