Unknown Gunmen In Military Camouflage Abduct Senior Police Officer, Others On Ekiti-Benin Route

An ash-coloured Sienna bus traveling from Ekiiti State enroute Benin City with a senior police officer(names withheld) and 9 other passengers was reportedly ambushed by unknown gunmen in military camouflage and all of its occupants ordered into a nearby forest, it was confirmed.
The abduction of the senior police officer and 9 others was said to have taken place between 4 to 5pm on February 21 2024 as the Sienna bus approached Oluku junction near Benin CityIt was said that the senior police officer, who was recently deployed from the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police to Ekiti, was only returning from his new posting after he had gone to officially report and was on his way back to Benin City to perfect his relocation when all of a sudden the vehicle he was traveling in was ambushed.
Meanwhile, local sources close to the scene of abduction claimed that other traveling vehicles were also reportedly ambushed on the same spot and all passengers ordered Into a thick forest by the unknown gunmen in military camouflage before the Sienna bus with registration number AKR 482 MM was ambushed.
A source close to his family who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed that the family had not been contacted by the unknown gunmen adding that he has been incommunicado since he was abducted on February 21st.
However, the spate of recent abductions of Innocent Nigerians on the highways on a daily basis by unknown gunmen and often times herdsmen calls for concerted collaboration amongst all stakeholders including government at level to urgently restore confidence on the pysche of road users concerning safety of lives on our roads as relatives and families of kidnapped victims churn out huge ransoms to secure the release of their loved ones in the face of the worsening insecurity that has ominously defied all strategic measures deployed against it.
Meanwhile, 2 daughters of the abducted senior police officer namely Omon and Paradise in Canada, according to a reliable family source, are said to be greatly distraught and worried about the safety of their father and his likelihood of regaining freedom as communication line has reportedly not been opened between his family and the abductors for any payment of ransom.
However, it is the sincere hope and belief of the families of the kidnapped victims including that of the abducted senior police officer who is happily married with 3 daughters, that they are released unconditionally in order to reunite with their loved ones as soon as possible.
