UNIABUJA announces fresh appointments

The management of the University of Abuja has announced fresh appointments into the offices of Director Center for Distance Learning and Deputy Dean of the Post Graduate School respectively.
A statement from the office of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Umale Adikwu, said the appointments were part of reorganisation of the administration of the institution to place on a stronger footing and not because of alleged cases of corruption.
The new appointees include Professor T.O.O. Dumah, as the Director Center for Distance Learning and Dr. Bello Ayuba as the Deputy Dean, Post Graduate School.

Principal Officers of the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education AOCOED) Ijanikin Lagos have been asked to proceed on compulsory leave over financial and administrative recklessness by the Lagos State government, a source in the institution has revealed.
The source disclosed that the principal officers have been asked to proceed on a compulsory leave after a committee set up by the Lagos State Government over the 2014 industrial action by staff of the institution found them wanting and recommended that the previous officers of the former administration should proceed on compulsory leave.
The source hinted that the issue was kept in the dark by management of the institution, adding that few people in the school know about the situation.
Chairman of Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education in the institution, Mrs. Wunmi Ombugadu, confirmed to our correspondent that principal officers of the institution have been asked to proceed on compulsory leave over financial and administrative recklessness.
She added that a committee set up by the Lagos State government in 2014 to look into the reasons for the industrial action by staff in the college had submitted it report and recommended that the officers should proceed on compulsory leave for financial and administrative recklessness.
She said: “It is true, you know when we had problem in 2014, when we went on strike, the Lagos State Government set up a committee to investigate the situation of the school. So it was the recommendation of that committee that that the former principal officers of the school should go on compulsory leave”.
“There was a forensic audit of the institution and after the committee finding it was observed that there was administrative and financial mismanagement of the institution under the previous administration and this recommendation was made”.
Contacted, the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the college, Adebowale Odutan, did not confirm or deny the report, saying the institution was making effort to issues a statement on the issue.
He said: “We are trying to prepare a statement to that effect. I cannot say anything for now. I am sure before the close of work tomorrow(today) when the Rector is around, we would have a statement on that”.
Meanwhile, the College Staff International Secondary School and primary school have reopened after been shut by the management of the institution after a protest and clash between teachers of the primary school and the headmaster.
The workers had embarked on a protest over slash in their salary, allowance and non-payment of salaries to several of them.
A teacher in the primary school, Shola Ogunwale, who spoke to the Daily Times, said the management had reopened the schools, adding that they were still been paid half salary. He stressed that the committee set up by the Lagos State government to investigate the issues was yet to conclude it finding.
