Tourism, An Untapped Goldmine In Delta – Okowa

Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has described the tourism industry as an untapped goldmine.
The governor who commissioned an ultra-modern hotel, Hotel De Copperfield in Asaba, yesterday observed that apart from being rich in mineral and material resources, the tourism industry in the state is a huge money spinner that needs to be tapped.
He commended the foresight of the Managing Director of Hotel De Copperfield, Chief Chukwuma Nwaobi for his interest in investing in the hospitality industry in the state, noting that such edifice would encourage tourists and present the state as not only investors-friendly but, a haven for tourists.
“We thank God that you have come to invest in the hospitality business, we are excited that you started by constructing a road to the hotel which has made it to be accessible,” the governor said, noting that it was a thing of joy that the private sector has seen reasons to invest in the state.
According to him, “the private sector is actively collaborating with us to develop our state and it is a thing of joy that all over the state, our people have accepted that with private sector investment, there will be job opportunities and the socio-economic life of the people will get a great boost.”
Chief Nwaobi in an address, said, “Your Excellency, we are happy that you have made Delta State investment friendly and the signs are all over the place; we took time to choose Delta State as our investment spot above other states due to the monumental potentials we discovered in this state; your ability in making Delta State one of the safest states in Nigeria is one of our topmost motivation.”
High point of the event was the commissioning of the 235 meters road constructed by the management of the hotel by Governor Okowa who was accompanied to the event by top government functionaries..
