Tinubu wins Cardinal Okojie’s heart

Ripples of the celebration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at 65 is still making the rounds.
A message from the Archbishop Emeritus, Cardinal Anthony Olubumi Okojie said Tinubu has, in the past 65 years, “been an advocate of justice, a true democrat; a pathfinder and a leader and a true son of Nigeria, in the true sense of the word.”
Describing the arch politician as a true enigma and a bundle of creative ability, the Archbishop said Tinubu’s early rise to prominence had displayed certain qualities that marked him out for recognition.
“The passing of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and others left the stage for a search of a true, genuine and sincere leader. You showed yourself as a standard-bearer for social democracy through your fight against federal oppression and became a political agent of change without fear or favour.

“You saw Nigeria as a great nation, a people blessed by God. You saw Nigeria in your dream as a nation that will one day tower above other nations; a people that will be respected and feared by the comity of Nations.

“Today by the grace of God, your dreams are gradually being transformed into reality; you have made and still making your work as a political giant and business wizard – not by your power and might, but by the grace and power of God.”

Acknowledging that Tinubu’s attainment of three-score-and-five years is no mean achievement for a man of prodigious energy, unbridled passion for excellence and a heart of love, Okojie, quoting Pope John XXIII, said, “Men are like wine, some to vinegar, but the best improve with age.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a blessing to our country Nigeria, a true and loyal friend to the high and low,” praying that the Lord will continue to bless him with courage and wisdom in his future plans and activities to the glory of God.”
