The President, Coalition of Christian Groups for Good Governance Nigeria and Diaspora (COCGOG), Engr Daniel Kadzai has praised Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu for participating in the United States national prayer breakfast held in Washington DC. The visit gained international attention when U.S. President, Donald Trump, specifically recognized the First Lady during the gathering, highlighting both her political role and her spiritual background.

During the event, President Trump extended a warm welcome to Senator Tinubu, acknowledging her influence and her role as a pastor in one of Nigeria’s largest denominations. “We are honored to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria, a very respected woman… it’s a great honor. Thank you very much,” Trump stated. Responding to the development, Kadzai described the recognition as a significant honor for Nigeria. He noted that the First Lady’s presence at the prayer meeting serves as a testament to her standing as a leader of faith and a representative of the nation’s values.

Kadzai emphasized that the First Lady’s lifestyle serves as a blueprint for religious tolerance within Nigeria. He pointed to her long-standing peaceful coexistence with her husband, President Bola Tinubu, a Muslim, as a powerful example for the country.

In light of these concerns, Kadzai appealed to the U.S. government to maintain and strengthen its support for Nigeria, particularly in combating insecurity. With the spate of insecurity in Nigeria, Trump had lamented that Christians were facing persecutions from the other prominent religious group. He had threatened to salvage the situation if the Nigerian leadership failed to find lasting solutions. The development had also prompted the Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, to take drastic steps, some of which culminated in the reshuffling of the military architecture, including appointing former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as Minister of Defence, our correspondent reports.
President Bola Tinubu has accepted a state visit invitation to the United Kingdom (UK) extended to him by King Charles of England. This is contained in a statement issued by the UK Mission in Nigeria on Sunday posted on its official X handle. According to the statement, the President’s visit, slated for Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, will be the first by a Nigerian leader since 1989. It added that the historic visit provides an opportunity to further strengthen the enduring partnership between the two countries. The President will be accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, during the visit, and the King and Queen will host them at Windsor Castle. “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Wednesday, 18th March to Thursday, 19th March 2026. “This historic visit provides an opportunity to further strengthen the enduring partnership between our two nations. “The King and Queen will host the State Visit at Windsor Castle,” the statement added
