The Annie Okonkwo Foundation Officially Launched to Honour the Legacy of Late Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo

The Annie Okonkwo Family is proud to announce the official launch of The Annie Okonkwo Foundation, a new non-governmental organization established to perpetuate the legacy of the late Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo.
Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo (May 23, 1960 – June 7, 2023) was a revered Nigerian politician and business mogul known for his boundless generosity and deep-rooted commitment to his community. Elected as the Senator for the Anambra Central constituency on May 29, 2007, his career was marked by significant contributions to both politics and business. As a business magnate, he built a conglomerate employing over 7,000 people, including companies such as Reliance Telecomm, Clemco Industries, Modern Communications (satellite TV Network), MacClemm Marketing Communications, Sunflower Nigeria, and Pentagon Oil.
He was fondly known as “Agunechemba”—meaning “guardian of the people” because of his kind heart and unwavering passion for his community. His boundless generosity and deep-rooted commitment to his community left a lasting legacy of compassion and service. He trained hundreds of young Nigerians by sponsoring their education through grants and scholarships in Nigeria, North America, South Africa and Europe. He renovated several schools, distributed several transformers and provided for widows and orphans across various communities in Anambra Central Zone through the Agunechemba Foundation.
“Clement’s boundless dedication to the well-being of others is what truly defined him,” said Lady Chinyere Okonkwo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for The Annie Okonkwo Foundation and Senator Okonkwo’s wife. “Through this foundation, we hope to empower 300,000 individuals in 5 years in marginalized and underserved communities, providing them with the support and resources they need to thrive.”
The Annie Okonkwo Foundation aims to address critical health and educational challenges in underserved communities across Nigeria. We are committed to fostering a healthier, more educated populace, thereby creating lasting change in Nigeria. Through strategic programs and projects, the foundation seeks to create a brighter future for those in need, ensuring that Senator Okonkwo’s legacy of compassion and service lives on.
