Taraba 2015: CRCN Affirms CANs' Endorsement of Darius
The Christian Reformed Church- Nigeria(CRCN), has affirmed the position of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Taraba State chapter, which had endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) governorship standard bearer, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, as it’s candidate for the April 11, governorship polls.
The church made this known at a service to mark the end of of it’s annual conference, known as Bethel 2015, through it’s president, Reverend Caleb Ahima.
Reverend Ahima, who at the end of the service, read a letter from TEKAN/ECWA, informing the church of CAN decisions’ to endorse Darius Ishaku for governor, and President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for president, also said the church stands firmly by the decision of CAN to endorse the two candidates.
“As a member of the TEKAN/ECWA family, we are standing by this decision to endorse Darius Ishaku for governor of Taraba State, and President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for president of Nigeria.
“This is why I decide to read this to letter to the hearing of all of you present, this is the official position of CAN, as such, that of our church as well.”
After reading the letter, there was a wide jubilation from the congregation, numbering over 20,000, who had converged on the Takum central stadium for a four-day religious revival programme, with members of the church, coming from different parts of the country.
Revered Ahima, had before then prayed for peace and progress of the state, and that of the nation, just as he also prayed for those who had along worked and supported the church in it’s mission work.
It could be recalled that CAN in the state, had before now, endorsed the candidature of Darius Ishaku and that of Goodluck Jonathan, ahead of the coming polls.
