Suspected killers of soldiers at Nembe arrested

Some suspected gunmen who killed soldiers at Nembe area have been arrested. They were reportedly arrested by men of the special security outfit, Bayelsa Waterways Security Taskforce, on Monday.

The arrested suspects were said to be the masterminds of the attack on a military post in the Nembe area of the state that led to the death of three soldiers.

It was gathered that the security outfit, led by ex-militant leader, Master Africanus Ukparasia, arrested the suspects at Olugbobiri community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, LGA, of the state based on an intelligence tip-off.

It would be recalled that on Monday, August 8, suspected militants attacked the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, in Bayelsa state, and killed three soldiers.

The incident occurred at about 9.30am at Tombi Jetty, Ogolomabiri in Nembe Local Government Area of the state. The perpetrators had escaped with military gunboats, rifles, arms and other ammunition, after they ambushed the task force who were at a checkpoint.
