Sika Osei sheds light on the serious issue of PTSD in new short film, 3NA

Ghanaian TV presenter and actress, Sika Osei has taken a bold step into the world of film making with the release of her new short film, "3NA: Three Nights Ago," a film written by young and talented new comer, Gene Adu and directed by Idowu okeniyi. The film also stars Ghana's Mawuli Gavor and new comer, Kwame Annom Amfo.

Officially her second short film, her first one being #Guilty which is currently online, which touches on the broad topic of Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome but specifically of the sexual nature as a way to throw much needed light on the sensitive subject which often goes unmentioned or discussed in Africa.

Asked how difficult it was to be both the executive producer of the project and its' lead actress, Sika "Extremely difficult. I definitely knew that this was a film I wanted to make because it strongly moved

me to know that so many people go through such traumatic experiences not just by strangers but people they know and trust which ends up being covered up by family or themselves as a way of saving face and covering their shame and never dealing with the negative emotional and psychological effects that it may have on them.

“But at the same time I was so hesitant to step into their shoes which I had to if I wanted to do justice to their reality on screen. It was really a matter of being brave as well as being delicate and respectful to

these victims. The truth is my character could be your mother, sister, friend or just a stranger but this

could be closer to you that you think. And it's time we talk about it and learn how to encourage those who've gone through such experiences speak up and get help." The film is also accompanied by a PSA from the actors and will serve as a prelude to a campaign that Sika
will be championing in the months to come to really drum home the importance of the subject.

Shot in a gritty yet creative and sensitising way, 3NA definitely succeeds within 12 minutes to capture this biting truth leaving audiences both emotional and pensive. A must watch.
