Sanwo-Olu to lead Lagos delegation to Fidelity Bank’s Atlanta trade conference

Fidelity Bank Plc said Lagos State Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu will lead the state’s delegation to the 2025 Fidelity Nigeria International Trade & Creative Connect (FNITCC) in Atlanta.

The bank announced over the weekend that the three-day event, hosted in partnership with AFRICON, will take place Sept. 18–20, 2025.

Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Fidelity Bank’s managing director and chief executive officer, said the conference would create opportunities for Lagos and Nigerian businesses to gain wider international market access.

“Hosted in collaboration with AFRICON—the leading global forum for African innovators and change leaders—FNITCC Atlanta is scheduled to take place from September 18 to 20, 2025,” the statement reads.

“The event is expected to attract over 3,000 participants, including investors, trade agencies, exporters, and diaspora professionals. It is expected to facilitate trade and investment transactions exceeding US$500 million.”

Onyeali-Ikpe said the bank was pleased to host the Lagos State delegation, which will be led by Sanwo-Olu, at the third edition of its global trade initiative.

She said Fidelity Bank looked forward to welcoming Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos team to the upcoming conference.

According to her, hosting the Lagos delegation, headed by Sanwo-Olu, would be a key highlight of the bank’s global trade forum.

“As the largest economy on the continent, Lagos State is well-positioned to capitalise on the wide range of opportunities we are creating to ensure Nigerian products are effectively received within the global marketplace, especially on the American continent.”

Sanwo-Olu, on his part, said Lagos is a city of enterprise, creativity, and boundless opportunity, and that the trade conference would highlight this.

“At FNITCC Atlanta, we are not only showcasing Lagos as Africa’s largest economy, but also building bridges of trade, investment, and cultural exchange with our partners in Atlanta and the wider United States.

“This engagement underscores our commitment to positioning Lagos as a truly global city, where innovation thrives, partnerships flourish, and prosperity is shared,” he stated.

Confirmed speakers include Mustafa Chike-Obi, chairman of Fidelity Bank; Aishah Ahmad, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; Abba Bello, managing director of the Nigerian Export Import Bank; and Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, group managing director and CEO of Sunbeth Global Concepts Nigeria Ltd.

The programme will feature workshops, deal rooms, targeted matchmaking sessions and an exhibition of African products and services across agriculture, extractive industries, fashion, creative sectors and professional services, the bank said.
