Robbers on Rampage in Benin, Kill Two, Raid Church

 

Barely twenty-four hours when armed robbers invaded Owo town, in Ondo State and shot dead a bank manager with the Wema Bank Plc, another gang of robbers on Friday unleashed their wickedness in Ewuotubu community, in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

The armed robbers numbering about raided a storey building near Ewuotubu community and killed at least two persons, it was gathered.

It was gathered that the armed robbers carted away with valuables of one of the victims while many sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Meanwhile, those who sustained injuries have been rushed to the Time Hospital on Ekenwan road in the state capital.

Also, the unknown gunmen invaded Salvation Givers Church International, a Pentecostal church located at 13, Onaiwu Street, Off 2nd Cemetery road, in Benin, at about 4am, a few minutes after a night prayer session.

The robbers were said to have shot sporadically, forcing the faithful back into the church, before dispossessing them of their valuable belongings.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Edoigiawerie, who confirmed the incident said, one of the robbers had been arrested.

Edoigiawerie however said, the command had yet to receive any report of the robbery in the church.
