Residence of former sports Minister Sango attacked by suspected gunmen, shoot three, cart away rifles

Unknown gunmen attacked the home of former Nigerian Sports Minister Damishi Sango in Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, on Wednesday night, March 31.

Sango’s home village of Danwal, Ganawuri, was attacked at about 9:45 p.m., a few kilometers from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies Kuru.

The Gunmen raided the house in a guerilla-style assault, firing sporadically and killing two police officers and a civilian steward. The Gunmen took their weapons and fled.

The former Minister, who confirmed the news to Daily Times, said he was unharmed, but one of the wounded police officers died shortly after being taken to the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH.

Plateau State Police Commissioner Edward Egbuka, who visited the scene of the incident, said that an investigation and manhunt for the criminals has already begun.
