Police reveal identity of officers who killed man in Lagos

The identities of the policemen who shot dead the 36 -year -old Kolade Johnson at the Onipetesi area of Lagos have been revealed.

Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, who gave their names as Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan and Sergeant Godwin Orji of the Anti-Cultism Unit said the named policemen were already in custody.

Speaking during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased at No. 1 Beco Street, Onipetesi, Mangoro Bus stop, the police commissioner assured the family of the deceased that justice will prevail in the matter.

The state police boss who was accompanied on the visit by senior police officers in the state, condemned the action of the members of the anti-cultism team that carried out the shooting.

He reiterated his commitment in ensuring that justice is done in the matter saying that “the men suspected to have carried out the shooting have been apprehended and subjected to internal disciplinary procedures.

“I also pray for the repose of the soul of Kolade and pray that the Almighty God will grant the family, friends and well -wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

In his reaction, the head of the deceased’s family, Alhaji Remi Lukman, who received the commissioner and his entourage, expressed gratitude to Muazu for honoring the family with his presence and his resolve in ensuring that justice prevails in the case.

He commended the him for the bold steps taken in exposing those behind the shooting.

“I thought it is going to be a one man’s fight, but seeing the police high command joining our family in this fight has shown that justice will not only be done to Kolade, but to the entire Nigerian youth. I am glad that we have a new police force which believes in justice,” he said.

Lukman described their late son as a peace loving person and called on well -wishers to remain calm and allow the law take its cause.
