Police arrest 60-year-old grandfather, friend for allegedly stealing Toyota SUV in Delta

Detectives in Asaba attached to the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 60-year-old grandfather and his friend for allegedly stealing a Toyota sports utility vehicle (SUV) and recovered from them 186 master keys.
They were said to have been arrested on a tip-off around Infant-Jesus Road in their hideout in Asaba where they allegedly kept the SUV while they still at sleep at about 7am Friday.
Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, who paraded them before journalists in Asaba, said the suspects upon interrogation confessed to the crime, adding that they have been in the business of stealing cars with the use of master keys.
The police boss gave their names as Nnamdi Edward, Chukwu Francis both of whom are indigenes of Imo State who settled in Asaba.
According to the suspects, “the master keys are of different types, they can open any car whether the owner locked it or not; we use them to help persons who lost their keys.”
Answering questions from journalists, the police boss said that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation, disclosing that six suspected armed robbers were last week arrested around Oduke area of Asaba after their attempt to snatch a car from its owner failed.
Meanwhile, unidentified gun men have allegedly killed a businessman in Sapele identified as Henry Amromanor. Reports said the businessman was allegedly shot dead right in his house by the unidentified gunmen who monitored him to be sure he was at home via his GSM phone before they stormed his house in disguised.
A family member, Stella Akah said the gunmen shot the businessman and fled the scene with their vehicle with no plate number. “we heard our brother shouting and before we could move into the house, they fled the scene and we went to the police”.
But in a swift reaction, the Police Image Maker in the state, Mr. Aniamaka Andrew, confirmed that the police were investigating the murder, adding that the corpse of the businessman had been deposited in the mortuary.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the businessman’s murder, we will unravel the act” he added. In another development, residents of Ibusa community were yesterday thrown into fear of the unknown as lifeless body of a middle aged man whose name could not be ascertained as the time of this report.
He was found lying by the road as his body was by unknown person. But the situation which attracted residents of the area to scene saw, crying and wailing by the people who described the act as wicked.
Some of them who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said they woke in the morning to see corpse of the man by the roadside and called on security agents to investigate the act.
But Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, the Police Image Maker in the State confirmed that the police were investigating the act with a view to bringing the evil doers to book.
