Plateau Horror: 9-month-old, 3 others killed in attack
At least four people, including a nine-month-old infant, have been killed and two others injured in a brutal attack by gunmen in Nkiendowro community, Bassa LGA, Plateau State.
According to officials from the Miango Youth Development Association, the victims—two women, one man, and a baby—were ambushed as they transported tomatoes from their farm to Farin-Gada market in Jos
The group had loaded their harvest onto a vehicle when armed assailants reportedly blocked their path at a bridge near Tegbe-Nkiendowro community before opening fire.
Joseph Chudu, spokesperson for the youth association, confirmed the fatalities and noted the injured were rushed to a local hospital. The deceased have been moved to the morgue.

Security forces in Plateau have not yet issued an official statement, and their top spokesman remains unreachable.
This disturbing incident is the latest in a recurring wave of violence terrorizing farming communities in Plateau, often tied to ethnic tensions and banditry. Earlier this month alone, similar ambushes claimed at least three lives in nearby areas.
Local leaders and residents have voiced outrage, with many demanding immediate protective action from both state and federal authorities. The ambush highlights the increasing insecurity on rural roads during harvest season—a pattern seen across Plateau’s agrarian landscape.
As investigations continue, families are left mourning, markets are disrupted, and transporters are wary of traversing once-safe routes. Vigilante and security responses remain inconsistent, and residents warn more attacks may follow unless a robust security overhaul is initiated.
