Ex- Senate President Lawan consoles Kwara govt over attack on Woro community

Former President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan has commiserated with the government and people if Kwara State over the tragic terrorists attack on Woro community in the state leaving many dead.

According to him, the reports of the heinous and barbaric attack unleashed on Tuesday evening by terrorists in Woro, of Kaiama LG of Kwara State, which cruelly cut short the lives of at least 170 people, have left the entire nation in a state of shock, mourning, and collective outrage

The Senator representing Yobe North senatorial district in a statement on Thursday said each number reported from these attacks represents a life extinguished, a future stolen, a family shattered, and a community plunged into inconsolable sorrow.

“We mourn fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and promising youths whose dreams have been violently eclipsed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured, and we fervently pray for their speedy recovery even as we stand in solidarity with those burying their loved ones.

“In the face of this monumental tragedy, I commend the decisive action of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in immediately deploying an Army Battalion to Kwara State under Operation Savannah Shield to confront this menace.

“This swift response underscores the Federal Government’s seriousness in protecting our various communities and restoring enduring security.

“I urge all traditional and community leaders in the affected regions to ensure calm, as your strength in this hour of darkness is crucial. We call on all citizens to support our security forces with vital information and communal cooperation.

“Let me be unequivocally clear that the security and welfare of the people remain the primary purpose of government, as enshrined in our constitution.

“These tragedies reinforce the urgent and critical necessity of our ongoing legislative and collaborative efforts to overhaul our national security architecture,” said Lawan.
