Plateau former Speaker clinches PDP re-run senatorial ticket

A former member of the Federal House of Reps, and former Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. George Edwards Daika has worn the ticket under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the forthcoming Plateau re-run Southern zone Senatorial Bye-election.

Daika’s emergence has set the stage to fill the vacant seat caused by the death of Late Senator Ignatius Longjan.

The PDP and the APC have transparently produced their candidates in their primaries, which both held in Shendam, in Shendam Local Government Area of State.

While, Prof. Nora Daduut pulled 1,936 votes to emerge as the APC candidate for the Plateau South Senatorial rerun, George Daika, pulled 434 votes to become the flag bearer of the PDP in the coming contest.

Daika, defeated four aspirants to emerged the PDP;s flag bearer for the October 31, 2020, Senatorial bye-election.

The runner up in the election, who is also a former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Dapianlong garnered 199 votes. Others are, Barr. Philip Nyitni having, 18 votes, while Crysantus Dawam got 5 votes.
