Payment of deceased pensioners to commence soon in Nasarawa

Relatives of deceased pensioners in Nasarawa state will heave a sigh of relife in no distance time as the state Government says it’s will soon commence payment of deceased pensioners of the 13 Local Government areas in the state from July 1997 to July 2011 and delete their names from pension roll.

The state commissioner of local government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon Haruna Osegba who stated this yesterday in Lafia after the state joint allocation meeting with the 13 Local Government chairmen, said the meeting resolved to set aside N160 million separate from the monthly funds released for pensions.

The Commissioner revealed that the 13 Local Government Areas of the state shared a total amount of N896,899,470,52 million as allocation for the month of February.

The figures was N32million higher than the one shared in the previous month.

He explained that the improvement in allocation was as a result of increase in revenue generation from the local government from N620 million to N836 million.

When our correspondent sought to know from the commissioner the time workers in the local level would stop receiving money in percentage he said “very soon the issue of percentage payment would be a thing of the past.

He also shaded more light on the ongoing construction of culverts and bridges across the state as saying “their almost at the state of completion.”
