Oshomhole: Governors warned against causing acrimony, chaos

National Chairman of the Patriotic Nigerians Initiative for Good Leadership and Peaceful Co-existence, Babangida Sulemanchok Jnr, has called on some of the state governors and other stakeholders ganging up against the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Chairman, Comrade Adams A. Oshiomhole, to thread carefully and reconsider their moves for the sake of national interest.

He said their concern was that as a ruling party, whatever affects the APC will have widespread impact on the entire nation, pointing out that it was imperative for the current crises brewing in the party to be tackled effectively so that the citizenry don’t bear the brunt of what was no fault of theirs.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on matters of national importance, Sulemanchok expressed their willingness to work with all and sundry to promote national development, peace and unity.

“The recent dissafection in the party between Comrade Adams A. Oshiomhole, the APC National Chairman and some state governors as a fall out of the primary elections of the party across the nation can be resolved amicably, while national interest should be put before personal interest at all times.

We are non partisan patriotic Nigerians from both the North and the South, but our concern is because as a ruling party, if there is any crises rocking it, there would definitely be negative impact on the nation, directly or indirectly and the common man would always bear the brunt.

“On the other hand, if the party is crises-free and flourishing, it would have positive impact on the nation. Again, crises in the party can derail the good intention and work of President Muhammadu Buhari and interfere with the provision of dividends of democracy.

Besides, 2019 is around the corner, and any wrong moves can overheat the polity and stir apprehension that can become a prelude to election crises come 2019. So, whatever it is, we urge them to resolve their differences amicably,” the statement partly read.

It noted that Oshomhole began on a dogged, courageous, reliable note, and that even though some of his style were not appreciated in some quarters, they could still be for the success of the party and the nation at large, especially considering his antecedent as an unprecedented labour leader and an engineer of dividends of democracy to Edo State when he served as the executive governor of the state.

Meanwhile, the group condemned the recent crises in Kaduna which has claimed several lives and destruction of properties, adding that Governor Nasir El-Rufai prompt action action to contain further spread of the crises was highly commendable, including the 24 hours curfew he imposed across the state.
