Nigeria’s expanding Afrobeats influence is strengthening Lagos’ reputation as a leading cultural tourism destination in Africa.
Tour operators say international fans are increasingly visiting the city to attend concerts, explore its nightlife and experience the creative atmosphere linked to Nigerian music stars.
An entertainment promoter, Mrs Kemi Salako, said global tours by artistes such as Burna Boy and Ayra Starr have heightened global curiosity about Lagos.
According to her, major concerts and music festivals now significantly boost hotel occupancy, transportation services and nightlife revenue across the city.
She noted that data released in recent years by global streaming platform Spotify indicates that Nigerian music exports have recorded strong growth, driving increased international engagement.
Salako added that the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has continued to position music events as strategic tools for destination marketing.
She, however, stressed that sustained investment in infrastructure and security would further strengthen Lagos’ competitiveness within Africa’s cultural tourism market.
