Orekoya Missing Children Found
Reprieve has come for the Orekoya family as three missing children of the family kidnapped by their nanny, have been found in Lagos State where they were taken hostage.
Speaking to Channels Television in an interview monitored by our correspondent, police sources revealed that the kidnappers, faced by immense pressure the incident had generated abandoned the children in Shasha area of Lagos.
The children were immediately taken to an anonymous hospital for observation and are in the process of being re-united with their parents.
It would be recalled that the kids between the ages of 6, 4 and 11 months old were abducted by the nanny on April 8, a day into her job as the maid of the family.
The housemaid, Mary Akinloye, a 23-year-old indigene of Ibadan, Oyo State, was said to have been hired through an online trading portal, OLX.
She, as well as her accomplices, contacted the children’s’ parents and demanded the sum of fifteen million naira (N15m) as ransom for the kids.
Reports say the parents of the children had posted a notice on an online sales portal, stating that they needed the services of a nanny.
Ms Akinloye then offered her services, gave them the contact numbers of two individuals, whom she claimed were her relatives.
The Orekoya family then arranged to formalise documentation with the purported relatives.
The anguish, despair and anxiety of the couple has however come to an end with the kids having been found.
