Director Urges Higher Production Standards for Global Competitiveness in Nollywood
Amaka Ojo, a film director, says improved storytelling, advanced cinematography and professional sound design are now critical for competitiveness in the Nigerian film industry.
Ojo said this during an interview in Lagos.
She noted that strengthening production quality would boost Nigeria’s creative exports and attract more foreign partnerships.
According to her, investors are increasingly interested in structured projects with clear distribution plans.
She added that producers are now prioritising cinema-grade productions as audience expectations rise in the streaming era.
Ojo said collaboration with international streaming platforms has raised technical standards across the industry.
“Viewers now compare local productions with global content, so quality can no longer be compromised,” she said.
She, however, stressed that access to funding and technical training remains vital to sustain the industry’s growth.
