The Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, has reiterated the readiness of the state government (DTSG) to continue to provide the enabling environment in the oil and gas producing communities to enhance peace, security and socio-economic development in the state.
Oyibode stated this while defending the 2024 proposed budget of his ministry at the Ministry of Economic Planning in Asaba.
He said his ministry would maintain harmonious relationship with oil and gas firms and their host communities to generate more revenue to the government as well as provide more job opportunities for Deltans.
During the budget defence, Oyibode stated the need to render services that would benefit the people of the host communities, adding that the ministry had been mandated by the Transition Committee to establish modular refineries and gas turbines as well as invest in marginal oil wells.
He announced that Shell Petroleum and Development Company (SPDC) would soon return to the oil rich city Warri for business, saying that the country manager and CEO of the company would soon visit the State Governor for further discussions.
Meanwhile, tax compliance has been described as a biblical injunction which all income earning christians are expected to obey to remain children of God and workers in His vineyard.
The Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata stated this when senior pastors of Christ Embassy Church, Warri, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
While addressing the visitors, Hon. Ighrakpata thanked God for the lives of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his family, noting that no one could succeed without the grace of God.
The chairman described the state governor as a man who had the interest of the people at heart, stressing that residents of the state, especially Christians, should encourage the governor to do more in terms of infrastructural development and economic growth by paying their taxes appropriately.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Pastor Ovo Ofuoma, said the visit was in continuation of the commemoration of the 63rd independence anniversary of Nigeria by the church and to “share God’s word as a soothing balm to heal wounds and uplift spirits in today’s troubled Nigeria.”
The high point of the event was the presentation of copies of the October, 2023 edition of Christ Embassy’s devotional book, “Rhapsody of Realities” to the chairman and members of staff.
