Man chains wife to generator in Ogun, arrested by police

A 37 years old man, Ifeanyi Ajaero, has been arrested by the police in Ishagamu police divisional headquarters of Ogun state for tying his 28yrs old wife, Obiageli Ajaero, to a generator for two days after she has been seriously battered.
The incident happened at Ewooluwo in Shagamu local government area of the state. The suspect, who is a member of the already disbanded merchant navy, used an hand cuff to chain his wife who has become so weak as a result of serious beating from the husband.
The people in the neighborhood who had been witnessing frequent battering of the wife by the suspect informed the police of the latest happening consequent upon which the DPO Shagamu, Superintendent of Police (SP) Aduroja Moses led his men to the scene, rescued the victim and got the suspect arrested.
On interrogation, he admitted the crime, but claimed that his action is for self-defense.
However, according to the Ogun State Police Public Relation Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Oyeyemi Abimbola, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu who reportedly described the action of the suspect as the height of wickedness, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Investigation and Intelligence Department (SIID) for further investigation and prosecution.
He said that the state police boss has warned residents of the state that the command will not tolerate any act of domestic violence, no matter who is involved.
