NUPENG: I’ll support the visions of late Olabode Johnson – Akporeha

The National President of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG), Comrade Williams Akporeha has pledged to support the ideas and visions of the Late Francis Olabode Johnson.

Akporeha who made the promise during a condolence visit to PENGASSAN National Secretariat in Lagos on Thursday, added that the NUPENGASSAN alliance and the sustenance of policies in the Oil and Gas industry.

Comrade Johnson was the President of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), who died after a brief illness in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

“On hearing the sad news of Francis Johnson’s death, a lot of questions popped up as why the incident could take place. But that each time I asked I never get convinced that my close ally and confidant is no more, and I pray that such incident will not happen again in the history of the Labour movement in Nigeria.

“I will support all the ideals and visions of the Late Johnson with regards to the NUPENGASSAN alliance and the sustenance of policies that will grow the Nation’s Oil and Gas industry, the spirit behind NUPENGASSAN will never die”, he added.

Meanwhile, PENGASSAN’s Acting President, Comrade Frank Esanubi, appreciated NUPENG for the visit and revealed plans by the union to float an endowment trust fund that will cater for the educational needs of the late leader’s children.

“Late F.O. Johnson is a man whose activities touched many lives we vowed never to abandon his family especially the children.

“Towards this, plans are on ground to float an Endowment Trust Fund that will cater for the educational needs of the children up to the university level”, he added.
