No hiding place for IPOB – IGP

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Adamu Muhammed has vowed to pursue members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who he claims were responsible for the attack on a police station and prison in Imo state.

Following the attacks, Muhammed made the pledge on Tuesday while visiting the Imo police command.

In the early hours of Monday, gunmen stormed the two prisons, freeing over 1,500 inmates, according to sources.

The incident, which the IGP claimed was orchestrated by IPOB, also resulted in the destruction of some police vehicles.

After inspecting the damage caused by the attack, the IGP informed police officers that there is “no hiding spot” for IPOB members.

“Those that were released by the attackers, I have been told, some of them belong to the IPOB group; the proscribed IPOB group,” he said.

“We are sending this message to them that there will be no hiding place. They will be re-arrested and many more of the criminals within that group will be arrested.”
