NiRA to host AFRINIC-27 policy meeting in Q4 2017

Nigeria plans to host African Network Information Center (AFRINIC’s) open public policy meetings, in the last quarter of the year.
AFRINIC is the regional Internet registry (RIR) for Africa. It hosts two open public policy meetings every year in various locations throughout its service region.
Rev’d Sunday Folayan, president, Executive Board of the Nigerian Internet Registration Association (NiRA), explained that the AFRINIC meetings provide unique opportunities for Internet-related individuals and organisations to gather and to discuss the policies governing Internet number resource distribution in the African region.
The meetings, he added, would serve as platforms to share technical knowledge, and to attend workshops and tutorials.
The President, therefore, appealed to stakeholders in the Nigerian Domain Name system (DNS) industry to support NiRA to host the 2017 Public Policy Meeting, tagged: AFRINIC-27 in Lagos from 27th November, 2017 to 2nd December , 2017.
“The first meeting of each year, he said, “is held during the Africa Internet Summit (AIS). The annual AIS is a regional multi-stakeholder ICT conference, which brings together Africa’s ICT business and technical community to discuss regional and global ICT issues and challenges. The AIS is organised jointly by AFRINIC and AfNOG. An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is also held during the first AFRINIC Meeting of each year.
He said,”My appeal is that all NiRA stakeholders should key into the program of activities for the meeting.
