Otunba Gani Adams, Aare Ona Kakanfo designate, on Thursday, again reiterated the calls for the restructuring of Nigeria as a nation.

Otunba Adam said for the country to witness any meaningful development must be decentralized for each region to tap from its own abundant resources.

He maintained this while speaking with some journalists shortly after visiting Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the foremost leader of the Afenifere, Pan Yoruba Socio-cultural group in Akure, the capital of Ondo state.

Adams also faulted the 1999 Nigerian Constitution noting that its content was biased and does not represent the main wishes of the people of the country.

He observed that the book of law which was drafted by some few military men cannot continue to hold the existence of the country despite calls for its review.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo designate who was in company of Oba Yisa Olanipekun, the Zaki of Arigidi Akoko, said he was in the house of the Afenifere leader to also seek his prayer and fatherly advice.

“I’m here to visit the main socio-cultural group in Yoruba land, the political arrow head which is Afenifere in Yoruba land. The pacesetters, our leaders, those we can say have very strong antecedents.

“We are talking of those who have started this struggle in the 40s, those who built a standard that every living Yoruba man is proud of.

“You can’t get to a position like this without visiting Afenifere, there is a vacuum in your success without visiting them, because of the very good antecedents.

“And at the same time, to listen to a very good advice. You can be installed as the Aare Ona Kakanfo, but your performance after installation matters. Post-event, post strategy, post-ideology is very, very key.

“So this will not be my last visit, I will be very frequent to this house, to listen to the useful advice of the elders.

“We met them in the cause of the struggle, I joined the struggle in 1993, and I can tell you the details and the knowledge of true federalism, restructuring, we learnt from Afenifere.

“We are their student in terms of ideology, and when an elder is growing to a certain stage, he has to hand over to some youths, so I believe without restructuring, Nigeria cannot move forward.

Otunba Adams, however, saluted Alaafin of Oyo, for appointing him the new Aare Ona Kakanfo, which he said was first of its kind from the Ondo/Ekiti region.

He added that his appointment would strengthen the unity amongst Yorubas and the people of the country at large.

In his remark, Pa Fasoranti appreciated Otunba Adams for his visit and stressed that the leaders of the Afenifere would continue to support him in his quest to see a brighter future for the south west.

Daily Times reported that Otunba Adams was received during the visit by Seinde Arogbofa, the Secretary General of the group, Olu Falae, the erstwhile secretary to the government of the federation, Bakkita Bello, a former Speaker of Ondo State House Assembly.
