Niger PDP, CP meet behind closed doors

The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Commissioner of police, Alhaji Abubakar
Marafa, on Wednesday, met behind closed doors in Minna, the Niger state capital.
The PDP team was led by the state chairman, Barrister Tanko Beji.
The meeting was at the instance of the PDP which met the police boss to introduce the new executive of the party to Commissioner of police and his officers.
The meeting lasted over 60 minutes.
PDP chairman, Barrister Tanko Beji told journalists after the meeting held at the Commissioner of police office that “we came to introduce ourselves to the Commissioner and his men since we were elected we have not been opportune to meet him and his people, we will meet with other security agencies in the state too.”
Beji, who said their meeting was fruitful, added that we seized the opportunity to assure him that we are peace loving people, we will ensure there is peace within the party in the state.
“We told him that PDP is out for peace and that we will join others to ensure that there is peace in our state” he said.
Asked to comment on the activities of a group that threatened to take his executive to court, Beji said “when we reach the river we will know how to cross it”.
