NEC: Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Pushes for State Police as 35 States Submit Proposals

The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved the conclusion of activities for the ad hoc committee on flood, erosion, drought, and desertification. Chaired by the Kogi State Governor, the committee presented its final report, detailing implemented recommendations such as financial support to states and disbursement of funds to relevant ministries and agencies.

Following deliberations, the Council commended the committee for its work and resolved to transfer its responsibilities to the task force on flood, erosion, drought, and mitigation agencies. NEC also approved the disbursement of remaining funds allocated for flood mitigation and related activities.

Furthermore, the ad hoc committee on flood, erosion, drought, and desertification, chaired by the Governor of Kogi State under the directive of the National Economic Council (NEC), provided a comprehensive update on its activities. The committee highlighted the implementation of key recommendations, including financial support to states and disbursements to relevant ministries and agencies to address flood challenges across the country.

During the meeting, the chairman of the committee requested approval to wind down the committee’s activities following the submission of its final report. He also proposed transferring ongoing responsibilities to the task force on flood, erosion, drought, and mitigation agencies.

After deliberation, NEC commended the committee for its diligent service and approved the recommendation to disburse the remaining funds allocated for flood mitigation. The council also endorsed the transition of responsibilities to the task force, ensuring continuity in addressing flood-related and environmental challenges.
