NCPC Conference: Udom commends commission

Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom has commended the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) for the choice of using the state for the 2018 Christian Pilgrimage Leaders and Managers Conference.

Udom speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem said AkwaI-bom State being the first State to host the Pilgrimage Leaders and Managers of Nigeria outside Abuja was strategic.

The Governor stated that been a dominantly Christian State, he would do everything possible as a government to provide the enabling environment for Christians to worship God and prosper in their endeavor saying, “Akwa-Ibom State is named after God thus in the State, we strive day in and day out to do what is right”.

In a press statement signed by the media manager of the commission, Celestine Toruka on Wednesday said that Governor Udom believes that the Commission and the State are partners in progress.

In his earlier remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Uja Tor Uja thanked the government and the people of the State for receiving the Christian Pilgrimage Leaders and Managers in the State.

He said: “We are persuaded that AkwaI-bom stand on a stead to make Nigeria become what it should in the world, giving us its leverage by increasing investment in Christian Pilgrimage. I would like to see more pilgrims taking responsibilities to see more pilgrims from the State.

“With the challenges we face in Nigeria, we need to increase our praying commitment and development”, indicating that, “pilgrimage has gone beyond sightseeing’.

According toTor Uja, “We want a situation whereby younger people receive leadership so, we need to create more opportunities for them as they need to grow and contribute to the development of Nigeria.

“Nigeria has the largest number of young people in the world and if they are invested upon, the whole world will bow down for Nigeria. Remeber Israel’s economy is in the hands of their youth which explains why the country is doing well globally”, he noted.

The Chairman of Akwa-Ibom State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Archbishop Cletus Bassey said the hosting of the Pilgrimage Leaders in Uyo was historic being the first time ever outside Abuja.
