The member, representing Epe constituency 02 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Olusegun Olulade, popularly known as “Eleniyan” has urged fellow politicians and public office holders to be focused and ensure they positively affect lives of the people before they leave their various offices while they should also be conscious of the fact that they would leave the office they occupy some day.

The lawmaker gave the advise while speaking at a valedictory dinner he organised for members of the Lagos State House of Assembly Correspondents Association (LAHACA) at the DRemembrant Hotel, Alausa Ikeja on Wednesday.

Olulade who used the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as a reference, pointed out that despite the fact that the former governor of Lagos State was no longer in office he has remained not only relevant, but has continued to exist in the consciousness of every politician and non politicians in the country because he had invested in people.

“Your title will not take you far, what will take you far is your contribution and service to humanity.

“To be in government is not just about being called a lawmaker, Governor or President, one day, you will leave the office.

“If you want to amass wealth, and you don’t want to help people what will you do with such wealth. Everything you have said about me I’m going to keep it up. I have learnt from you.

“I want to thank everyone of you and also assure you that I will not change from the part you have known me with which everyone of you have acknowledged here today.

Please feel free to see me anytime you want in or outside office. I do not have a place to hide, this is who I am and this is what I would continue to be,” Olulade stated.

The Epe born politician who had served at various committees of the House and chaired that of Information and Health at different times disclosed that he would continue with his ‘Eleniyan Care Foundation,’ in his service to humanity, adding that age was on his side and will always be available as their next door neighbour.

“I still have a lot to offer the people of Lagos and Nigeria. There is another office that is very powerful that I would be occupying from June 8, 2019.

“I will use it to affect more lives and to serve humanity. I would leave everything to God that has helped me to come thus far and I know He would not abandon me.

“I will make myself available to you so that if there is anything we can do together I will be there for you.

“I am still very young and I still have a lot to offer the people by the grace of God. I will tell you if I will contest in 2023, when the time comes. What I pray for is good health, long life and prosperity,” he stated.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of LAHACA, Mr. Akinboye Akintola acknowledged the fact that Hon. Olusegun Olulade had always been a media friendly Parliamentarian.

He also acknowledged the fact that the lawmaker as the Chairman of the House committee on Information facilitated a good relationship with the leadership of the Assembly and the media.

“We have to acknowledge what Olulade did as the Chairman of the House Committee on Health.

“The Ayinke House rehabilitation project that President Muhammadu Buhari came to commission in Lagos is a product of Olulade’s oversight function as Chairman of the House Committee on Health.

“I just want to advise him to continue with what he is doing. That brand, ‘Eleniyan’ will remain with us until you get to where you want to go,” the LAHACA chairman assured.

Also speaking at the event, the General Manager of Radio Lagos/Eko FM, Mrs. Ayo Sotonwa explained that it may be difficult for Olulade to depart from the good part he has chosen especially, in the area of service to humanity.

The Radio Lagos/Eko FM boss stressed that someone’s character would manifest anywhere he or she goes, advising those in attendance to ensure that others say good things about them anywhere they went.
